About Massage (continued)

Should I contact my doctor?

While massage therapy has many health benefits, it is not always appropriate in some cases. Some conditions may become aggravated by massage, such as phlebitis (inflammation of blood vessels), infectious disease (including flu and the common cold), certain forms of cancer, some skin conditions, and some heart problems. If you have one of these or any other diagnosed medical condition, please check with your doctor before receiving a massage.

What should I expect?

In your first session, you will be asked to complete a personal health history form that asks about any past or present health conditions and injuries. We will then spend several minutes discussing your health goals and how you would like massage to help you achieve those goals.

Your massage will be given in a warm, private room with soft music playing. You will undress in private to your level of comfort. You will always be draped with a clean sheet or blanket except for the area being massaged to assure modesty at all times.

Your feedback is always welcome and will be requested to assess the pressure and depth that is most comfortable for you.
